Matrjoschkas are hip. At least when it comes to the fashion designer
Antonia Schapowalowa.

designed a fashion collection that pays homage to Russia and the
Kremlin.

Underpants emblazoned on shirts as patriotic declarations of love and
political slogans, and has been well received not only among young
nationalists. Also, outgoing President Vladimir Putin and his
designated successor Dmitry Medvedev have to hang in the fashion
closet.

For three years, got involved, the 20-year-old student Antonia
Schapowalowa at rallies and actions of the Kremlin. Then she found
another way to express their nationalist convictions among the people.
"Love is Russian" is on their clothing or "Russians go ahead." On
women's underwear emblazoned the words "I'm with you, Vova".

Vova, this is the nickname for the name of the outgoing President Vladimir.

Putin is Schapowalowas great role model. Prior to the parliamentary
and presidential elections as they had official in the Russian
governance initiated by the youth organization Nashi for the president
or his preferred successor, Dmitry Medvedev flat out. Now she uses the
well-groomed by Putin nationalism in order to make a name in the
fashion industry.

Brand Russia

"Russia is a real trademark," Schapowalowa said recently during the
Moscow Fashion Week on a fashion show. It comes from the 370
kilometers northeast of Moscow city of Kostroma, where she is still
enrolled as a student.

Of 10 April is on it Schapowalowas collection in the famous and noble
Moscow GUM shopping center to buy. In addition to the patriotic
slogans offers the young fashion designer of clothing, which is based
on the colorful outfit of Matrjoschkas, the typical Russian wooden
dolls plug.

Sponsors Medvedev

Her first major appearance Schapowalowa with her collection at a youth
event on Red Square on 3 December 2007, 30,000 people celebrated the
victory of Putin-loyal party "United Russia" in the disputed
parliamentary election. "Vladimir Putin and members of government have
my T-shirts," says Schapowalowa today. Among the supporters of the
young designer is also next to Putin's designated successor, Medvedev.

The fashion collection fits perfectly into the concept of Nashi, which
loosely translates "Ours" means, in terms of "our people" or "our
land". The Putin-loyal youth organization was created in 2005 during
the riots carried by young people in several former Soviet republics,
as the Kremlin feared that there could be unrest in Russia. The summer
camp of Nashi youth movement should invoke since then on the line of
the Kremlin.

Aggressive protests

When it comes to providing a pro-Kremlin show on its feet, bringing
the youth organization of tens of thousands of members on the street.
At the same time but also aggressive Nashi organized protest marches
against countries such as Estonia and Britain, accusing them of a
conspiracy against Russia. But because such concerns seemed
increasingly ridiculous, Nashi has turned to other problems - the
aging of the Russian society, for example.

Schapowalowa also took up the demographic development in their fashion
line. Last summer Medvedev visited a patriotic camp of Nashi youth
group there and looked for one of their T-shirts, which supports the
government's commitment to a higher birth rate. "The Ministry of
Health advises: reproduction is good for your health," was read out.
For the equivalent of around 24 € in the future there are slogans such
as "I want three kids" or "I am the beginning of a demographic boom"
to buy shirts.
